Behind the Scenes: Why Do We Put Things on Sale?

Posted by Stephanie Spafford on

You might be surprised but purchasing for a yarn store is hard work. We are impacted by trends, preferences, changes in season, and, in some cases, changes in opinion (think when a company is purchased or changes hands and the new owners aren't aligned with our values e.g. Quince & Co.).

Sometimes, I don't like working with the supplier or distributor. One of the benefits of running a small business is that we choose who we work with. As a result, I have stopped working with entitled men who think they rule the world.

Our current sale section consists mostly of much-loved products that are either discontinued, at the end of their line, or too expensive for us to restock.

Another little fact, we are a 50m2 store with no other storage. You really can only fit so much yarn.
