Founded in 1977 by Marianne Isager, the story of Isager begins even earlier with Danish designer Åse Lund Jensen (1920–1977).
Åse’s work was deeply rooted in Denmark’s craft traditions, yet she drew much of her inspiration from the rich knitting cultures of Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Collaborating with Henrichsen’s Yarn Mill, she created a range of high-quality wool yarns — including her favourites, Spinni and Jensen Yarn — both still beloved in the Isager range today. A pioneer in her field, Åse championed knitting as a recognised craft through exhibitions, teaching, and mentorship.
It was during her time teaching at Skals School of Design and Crafts that she met Marianne Isager, sparking a friendship that would shape the future of the brand.
After Åse’s passing, Marianne took up the mantle, preserving her timeless patterns and continuing her vision. Today, Isager thrives in the picturesque village of Tversted, Denmark, where its shop, workshop, and headquarters welcome knitters from around the world.
We are proud to offer Isager's full range including, but not limited to their Silk Mohair, Sock, Jensen, Tvinni, Spinni, Soft, Soft Fine, Alpaca 1, Alpaca 2, Alpaca 3, Trio 1, Trio 2, Boucle, Bomulin, Merilin, Hor Organic, Aran Tweed, Tweed, and Highland.
